Judy Byer

I work in mixed media where I blend my love of photography, collage and encaustic in many of my pieces. I love to travel and often take inspiration from this as well as from the written word. I am an avid gardener, so you will often see objects from my gardens and from nature along with recycled items incorporated into the collages.
I was lucky enough to encounter a number of teachers throughout my school years who encouraged me in art. When I moved to the Okanagan to teach as a young adult, I took a variety of art courses that were offered in the evenings or over the summer. I was introduced to the encaustic art form a number of years ago and have taken a variety of courses since that time. Encaustic, with its rich colours and ability to work with many other mediums, has become a wonderful source of experimentation.
My goal is to continue to learn, explore, and experiment as I work at incorporating various materials into my encaustic mixed media.
