Norma J Hill

Norma J Hill is truly a "Pen and Paper Mama." Mom to 5, and naanii (grandma) to 8, Norma loves to write and teach.

With a degree in Education from UBC, Norma has taught in public and private schools, tutored children, teens, and adults, and has been a home school mom, consultant, and tutor. Norma's tutoring services are available in Penticton, and in other areas via Skype. Services are available for all subjects in grades K to 8, and for English and Social Studies in grades 9 to 12. Assistance is also available for writing skills, ABE, GED, and SAT prep, as well as tutoring in a variety of special needs areas.

Norma loves to write. She has been published in magazines and anthologies, has published several newsletters, has written newspaper columns, has created blogs and websites which feature her work, and has worked for radio. She is a member of PWAP (Penticton Writers and Publishers) and has worked with Raise a Reader and One to One Reading.

Norma edits and proofreads manuscripts for other writers, both fiction and nonfiction, and helps them design author blogs and websites, brochures, newsletters, and more. She provides other writing services including letter writing, assistance with memoir writing, organization of computer and other filing systems, resume and application assistance, and other office and home organizational services.

Drawing on her experience as a mom and as a Home Economics teacher, this "Pen and Paper Mama" has created a successful cookbook, now in its 3rd edition. The "No-Fail, Speedy, Everyday Ingredients, Yummy Recipes and Handy Kitchen Reference Guide" features a unique binder format with pages in splatter-proof plastic covers. A great gift for grads, brides, and young folks moving out on their own, it is also useful every day in any kitchen.

Norma has created an "Easy to Learn" booklet series - easy-to-read and understand booklets on a variety of educational topics, excellent for homework help, home school guidance, and as classroom and job reference guides. Topics include arithmetic skills, handwriting, memory and learning strategies, creative approaches to assignments, reading and writing activities, homonyms, spelling guides, and more.
